Gibson Les Paul Serial Number Look Up

You need to do some research first before you spend money, its called common sense.
Sure there are stupid deals that come along but when it comes to a USA L.P. that rarely happens.
I'm not giving any info as to how I know one is fake but use google its your friend.
Thanks..
Serial Agreed... if I tried picking it up in my country... I would do a lot of research before I buy a guitar pedal, let alone a Les paul / any guitar for that matter... but when you are travelling and you see something like this and it kinda looks like a good deal, you take the risk... I have had more than my share of good lucks with something like this but in this case, I lost... Hey, you don't win everything right.. you win some and you learn from some.. from this I learned thanks again guys...

Gibson

Hi guys,
Just trying to work out what the serial number of the LP Custom I picked up recently tells me about it. (I got it in Tokyo, so the conversation with the store owner was a bit vague. I paid about 1500AUD for it, so it was a bargain in any case... Unless it's a fake Plays really well, in any case) I had a look over at the gibson site, but it is a little unhelpful/confusing.
Anywhere else I can look? Or does one of the experts here have an idea?
Guitar is an Ebony Gibson LP Custom. Price tag was marked '92 LP Custom'
Reasonably old, at least 5 years if hard used, maybe up to 20 if well cared for.
S/N is '2 2056'

There she is, 3rd from the left.
Thanks in advance
